Use AI to prepare a better enquiry for a qualified installer, not to make the final design or grant decision. Capture the facts that help your team decide the next step, while clearly identifying unanswered questions.
A proposed intake form could request location, ownership or authority to act, existing heating type, the customer’s objective, relevant documents and preferred survey arrangements. Avoid an automated promise of suitability, savings, grant approval or an installation date.
Ofgem describes the Boiler Upgrade Scheme as installer-led and requires an MCS-certified installer. Its property-owner guidance identifies England and Wales as the scheme geography, so a UK-wide enquiry flow must not assume identical support elsewhere. (ofgem.gov.uk)
Version control matters. Ofgem identifies installer guidance version 5.1 as current, with provisions applying from 28 April 2026 and further grant-related updates from 21 July 2026. The government’s approved-standards page was updated again on 20 October 2026. (ofgem.gov.uk)
Ask the agency who owns those updates. A prompt written at installation is not a maintenance process. Where guidance is missing or outdated, the approved response should defer to the installer rather than improvise.
