Expert Q&A

How should the desk judge the quality of an expert answer?

Use this proposed editorial rubric, not a numerical vendor ranking.

Answer quality What it looks like
Useful for a purchasing decision Defines scope and limitations; supplies an inspectable example; explains failure handling; identifies who is accountable
Useful but incomplete Offers sound principles but lacks comparable contractor evidence, a denominator or an operational demonstration
Not sufficient for approval Relies on generic savings claims, selected calls, unsupported compliance assurances or an unexplained “integration” label

For every substantial claim, ask:

  • Is this an opinion, product description, measured result or contractual commitment?
  • What period, sample and customer type does it cover?
  • What failed or was excluded?
  • Does it still apply to the version and configuration being proposed?
  • What evidence would change the expert’s recommendation?
