The following are recommended pilot designs, not verified product capabilities or promised results.
| Workflow | Initial scope | Primary outcome | Guardrails and counter-metrics |
|---|---|---|---|
| Missed-call recovery | One defined overflow period; capture and route suitable enquiries | Incremental completed-job contribution compared with existing recovery | Duplicate records, unsuitable bookings, complaints, handling and correction time |
| Commercial HVAC quotation follow-up | A defined cohort of approved, unresolved quotations | Additional completed work attributable to follow-up; estimating time released | Stop after acceptance, refusal or opt-out; no autonomous discounts or scope changes |
| Maintenance communications | A checked customer-and-asset cohort | Correctly processed communications and resulting completed services or renewals | Wrong recipient or asset, stale dates, cancelled agreements, marketing suppression failures |
| Heat-pump qualification | Structured information collection for human-reviewed surveys | Preparation time and completeness of information used by the surveyor | No autonomous design, eligibility or installation-price commitments |
| Internal administration | Draft-only processing of a bounded task | Net handling time after checking and correction | Incorrect records, inappropriate disclosures, missed exceptions |
For a voice workflow, include at least these scenario types in your test pack:
- A repeat caller and an existing booking.
- An unavailable slot or out-of-area postcode.
- A tenant who is not the payer or authorising customer.
- A safety-sensitive enquiry and an unanswered transfer.
- A caller who struggles to communicate or asks for a person.
- An attempted unauthorised disclosure, price change or system action.
ServiceM8’s own testing guidance includes existing-job enquiries, transfers, urgent jobs, complaints, unknown questions and fallback behaviour. This supports testing operational behaviour rather than judging voice quality alone. (support.servicem8.com)
