Hiring signals

How was this evidence selected, and what does it prove?

This is a purposive vacancy review, not a census of UK HVAC recruitment or a representative salary survey. Searches covered contractor and manufacturer careers pages, government-hosted vacancies, recruiters, job boards, trade bodies, industry press, supplier recruitment and contractor podcast/video material.

Evidence is separated into three categories:

  • Direct employer evidence: an employer careers page or identifiable employer-posted vacancy. This supports what the employer advertised, not whether the vacancy remains unfilled.
  • Recruiter or job-board evidence: useful for responsibilities and disclosed pay, but employer identity, republication dates and current availability may be uncertain.
  • Interpretation: the desk’s proposed explanation of what a vacancy could mean for workflow improvement. These conclusions require validation with the contractor.

Date discipline matters. A closing date after 27 October 2026 means the advert is within its stated application window, not that the employer has confirmed availability. Past-deadline adverts remain historical evidence. Undated careers pages are explicitly labelled; their visibility does not establish when recruitment began.

Pay below means the advertised annual salary unless otherwise stated. Bonuses, allowances and on-target earnings are separated where disclosed. These examples are not national medians, and manufacturer, national-contractor and consultancy roles are not treated as exact comparators for a small independent firm.
